Year 5
Dear Parents/Carers
These are the main areas of study for pupils in Year 5 this term.

SCIENCE |
This term pupils will learn about “Earth, Sun and Moon” and “Changing State”. |
|
HISTORY |
Our topic is learning about The Victorians. We have a Victorian day planned for the first week in the Spring term. |
|
RE |
We are looking at Jewish ceremonies as well as Islamic beliefs and teaching. |
|
MATHS |
Our daily mathematics lesson will be in line with the new Primary Framework. Homework will include learning multiplication tables. |
|
PE/GAMES |
This will include invasion games. Warm kit (eg track suit) and strong footwear (eg trainers) and a change of socks are essential. ‘Outdoor and Adventurous Activities’ is our P.E. focus. |

ART |
Victorian art and artists to link with our history topic. |
|
DT |
This will be designing and making Christmas biscuits towards the latter part of next half term. |
|
LITERACY |
Our daily literacy lesson will be in line with the New Primary Framework. Weekly homework takes the form of learning spellings and other reading and writing activities. |
|
HOMEWORK |
Your child will be set Literacy homework on a Monday and Numeracy on a Wednesday. Both to be handed in on Fridays. Daily tasks include times tables, reading and spellings. |
