Newsletter January 12th 2012

Message from Mrs Youngs

A warm welcome back to you all. I hope you are well and that you had a lovely break. I would also like to welcome the new families who have joined us this term. We look forward to an exciting year with our 150 year celebrations and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

CONGRATULATIONS to:

Leah Edwards who was awarded ‘Most Improved Dancer– Autumn term 2011’ with her dance school. Well Done!

If your child takes part in any out-of -school activities such as dancing, drama, gymnastics etc. please share their success stories with us so that we can publish them in the newsletter.

Water Bottles

Please send a water bottle into school each day. Children are able to keep these in class and it is essential that they drink water during the day.

Refillable water bottles are also available to buy from the school shop @ £1.

Clothing /School Uniform

Please ensure your child is wearing appropriate school uniform including sensible shoes. Boots should not be worn in school. We also ask that all items are named so that we can return property quickly.

Outdoor Games

As the weather gets colder please ensure that all children have track suit trousers and sweatshirt as well as outdoor trainers and a spare pair of socks. Please send kit into school on a Monday and take home on Friday.

Playtimes

If the children would like to play on the field they need to bring with them a change of shoes and socks and if there is snow they will need Wellingtons.

Bad Weather Arrangements

Although the weather at the moment is fine we are never sure what is in store. The school will only be closed if the school site is considered to be in an unsafe condition or there are insufficient staff to ensure that all the children can be supervised safely. A number of staff have to travel a distance to school which is also taken into account. I know that we can count on your support should such a decision be made.

If the school is going to be closed you should receive a text message but please do listen to local radio or check the Norfolk County Council website www.schoolclosures.norfolk.gov.uk if you are unsure just in case the text message is not delivered. It is therefore extremely important that you let the school office know if you change your mobile number.

FREE SCHOOL MEAL ENTITLEMENT

If you think your child may be entitled to free school meals but you are not claiming them please call in at the school office as soon as possible.
